About Us

University Background

        Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia or UTHM aspires to lead in market oriented academic programmes which are student-focused through experiential learning. The campus is located in Batu Pahat, the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The University traces its origin back in 1993 when it was established as a Polytechnic Staff Training Centre and later as Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn in April 1996. The Institute then was incorporated as Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn on 27 September 2000 and became the 15th public university in Malaysia. In February 2007 the University is known as Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

        The University has a long-established reputation for higher education, research and development that is of the highest quality and its management services is proven by the MS ISO 9001:2000 certification awarded by SIRIM in 2001. In fact, the government quality agency, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) gave us a highest level of recommendation for all programmes offered by the University.

        As part of its internationalisation activities, the University has established links with reputable institutions of higher learning in more than 11 countries such as Britain, Japan, Australia, Germany, Korea, Ireland, France and Indonesia on academic collaborations, students as well as staff exchange and research.

Facilities and Learning Resources

        A wide range of facilities and support services is provided for a conductive academic ambience and lifestyle. In recent years, the physical facilities of UTHM has undergone significant development. The campus is continually being upgraded and expanded to ensure that the teaching and learning environment is one of the best in this country.
